myth vs fact

Records matter, so let’s set the record straight.

Myth:

Marilyn Connolly wants to give illegals drivers licenses.

Fact:

I voted to prohibit illegals from getting Wyoming driver’s licenses.

Myth:

Marilyn wants to raise your property taxes.

Fact:

I supported multiple bills that ensured property tax relief without negatively impacting local government services, including 25% permanent property tax relief.

Myth:

Marilyn is a “gun grabber”.

Fact:

I am endorsed by the NRA and have an “A” rating. My opponent is only ranked as “Adequate” - not great for a guy who makes his living as a gun lobbyist.

Myth:

Marilyn is pro-choice and wants abortions on demand.

Fact:

I am pro-life and have a pro-life voting record.

Myth:

Marilyn does not support parental rights.

Fact:

I believe and vote so that parents, not government, are the primary decision-makers for their children. Schools should educate, not make significant social or moral decisions. Government should not compel speech or ideological participation.

Myth:

Marilyn supports the grooming of kids.

Fact:

I am a mother and grandmother who will always vote to protect children. That’s why I voted to establish new criminal penalties for grooming children.

Myth:

Marilyn wants dirty books in public and school libraries.

Fact:

I believe inappropriate library materials should be reviewed and removed when appropriate. Our county library boards and locally elected school boards already have policies and procedures to do exactly that, with accountability to the communities they serve. That's why I opposed replacing those proven local processes with a one-size-fits-all statewide mandate.

The Freedom Caucus bill would have thrown out local decision-making in favor of a deeply flawed statewide system so broadly written it could have banned children from reading the Bible in their local library, along with high school classics like Romeo and Juliet and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. It was a bad bill, and I voted against it.

Myth:

Marilyn supports teaching diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Fact:

I voted to terminate and defund DEI programs in Wyoming education.
